Here at Citypoint, we do things a little bit differently to traditional commercial brokerages. While our specialty is mid-market multifamily, our agents come from a wide variety of backgrounds such as office, retail, hospitality and residential.

At Citypoint, we pride ourselves on being a boutique, family firm. Instead of building large teams of mostly non-producing agents, we are highly selective with the agents we hire and limit each major city metro area to no more than a handful of agents. No part-timers, no low-performers, only high-caliber, high-producing agents. Having a smaller team means agents are not restricted to small geographic areas like they may be at other firms. At the same time, due to the sheer volume of contacts available, it almost never happens where an agent calls upon the client of another agent. While this system may ultimately lower the potential total revenue for the office, it allows each agent the ability to maximize their own sales.

We encourage an in-office environment. At Citypoint, we strongly believe in the power of collaboration as some of the best ideas and solutions come from “water cooler” conversation which does not occur with remote positions. While ideally, our agents are out in the field meeting with clients and viewing properties, we see a high correlation between agent performance and time spent in the office.

Our agents pride themselves on practicing what they preach, with all of our agents either already owning multifamily property or aspiring to be future landlords. Instead of curtailing agents from potentially doing their own deals, we encourage and nurture that investor mindset. We believe that being an investor will make someone a better agent. Similarly, being a better agent will ultimately translate into investor prowess.

Citypoint is not for everyone, however. We maintain an extremely competitive and entrepreneurial environment. Being a Citypoint agent is more akin to being a small business owner, rather than being in a 9-to-5 corporate setting. While those who are more inclined toward entrepreneurship may thrive in the Citypoint environment, others who are accustomed to more structured corporate settings may struggle.

Here at Citypoint, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of technology and data in our industry. Not satisfied with the databases of owner contacts available on platforms such as Costar and Reonomy, we decided to develop our own database of owner contacts, in-house and for the exclusive use of Citypoint agents. While this is a large expense and undertaking, especially for a boutique firm, we have seen tremendous returns in our agents being able to connect with prospects as efficiently as possible.

Likewise, dissatisfied with the options of CRM software available as it related to our specific sales system, we decided to build our own. Our Citypoint CRM seamlessly integrates into our database of leads and prospects. We are constantly innovating and investing in new features and technology to streamline our processes.

Our philosophy is that our agents’ time is best spent prospecting properties, meeting clients and getting deals done, not sourcing data. Our goal is to create systems of efficiency that can take away as much “busy work” from our agents’ plates as possible, so they can spend most time what they do best: getting deals done!
